History of Republic Day

India achieved independence from British Raj on 15 August 1947 following the Indian independence movement. The independence came through the Indian Independence Act 1947 (10 & 11 Geo 6 c 30), an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that partitioned British India into the two new independent Dominions of the British Commonwealth (later Commonwealth of Nations). 

India obtained its independence on 15 August 1947 as a constitutional monarchy with George VI as head of state and the Earl Mountbatten as governor-general. The country, though, did not yet have a permanent constitution; instead its laws were based on the modified colonial Government of India Act 1935. On 29 August 1947, a resolution was moved for the appointment of Drafting Committee, Drafting Committee was appointed to draft a permanent constitution, with Dr B R Ambedkar as chairman. While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, the Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution. 

A draft constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1947. The Assembly met, in sessions open to public, for 166 days, spread over a period of two years, 11 months and 18 days before adopting the Constitution. After many deliberations and some modifications, the 308 members of the Assembly signed two hand-written copies of the document (one each in Hindi and English) on 24 January 1950. Two days later which was on 26 January 1950, it came into effect throughout the whole nation. On that day began Dr. Rajendra Prasad's first term of office as President of the Indian Union. The Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India under the transitional provisions of the new Constitution. This date is celebrated in India as the Republic Day.

Funds may also be categorized as index funds, which are passively managed funds that match the performance of an index, or actively managed funds. Hedge funds are not mutual funds; hedge funds cannot be sold to the general public as they require huge investments. They are more risky than mutual funds and are subject to different government regulations.




                  The first modern investment funds (the precursor of today's mutual funds) were established in the Dutch Republic. In response to the financial crisis of 1772–1773, Amsterdam-based businessman Abraham (or Adriaan) van Ketwich formed a trust named Eendragt Maakt Magt ("unity creates strength"). His aim was to provide small investors with an opportunity to diversify.




                Mutual funds were introduced to the United States in the 1890s. Early U.S. funds were generally closed-end funds with a fixed number of shares that often traded at prices above the portfolio net asset value. The first open-end mutual fund with redeemable shares was established on March 21, 1924 as the Massachusetts Investors Trust (it is still in existence today and is now managed by MFS Investment Management).




                  In the United States, closed-end funds remained more popular than open-end funds throughout the 1920s. In 1929, open-end funds accounted for only 5% of the industry's $27 billion in total assets.
After the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the United States Congress passed a series of acts regulating the securities markets in general and mutual funds in particular.

The SBI annuity scheme can be invested for a period of 36, 60, 84 or even 120 months.  The interest rate on this investment will be the same as for the term deposit of the selected period.  For example, suppose you want to make an annuity deposit for 5 years, then you will get interest here as well as the interest which will be applicable to 5 year FD.

The annuity deposit scheme is the reverse of the recurring deposit scheme.  In the recurring deposit, the depositor deposits a fixed amount for each month and receives a fixed amount on maturity.  But in the case of annuity maturity, the deposit is to be deposited only once and a fixed amount is received every month after the expiry of the stipulated time limit.  At maturity, the amount will be returned to you along with interest.

Eligibility Standards:

The beneficiary family is required to be included in the BPL list of rural housing construction and rural development department as well as urban housing designation and urban development department.  Example of family annual income of Rs 1.5 lakh or less.
Benefits / assistance of the scheme

Under the scheme, cashless treatment is provided up to Rs. 1 lakh per family annually for a total of 3 procedures for serious illnesses like heart, kidney disease, infectious diseases, serious injuries, bunions and brain diseases.  The beneficiary with the mother card can avail a total of 3 of them connected to the scheme, including two private 4 govt. And 3 stand-alone dialysis centers.  (Quick Response) Mother / mother annuity card is provided.
The process
