Study requirements

National on Basic Education

Learning to read involves "tricking" the brain to a set of letters

be understood as coherent terms. To achieve this and associate color with sound,

A clear study is required. The more complex the spelling of a language, the more practice is required. Although many bright children learn to recognize words, most children learn to read more effectively by starting with smaller units of one or two letters. To understand a sentence, one has to read the entire sentence within the limits of his working memory. This means that children should read at least 45-60 words per minute to understand a paragraph. Analysis of written material requires mastery. When spelling rules are simple and instruction is sufficient, most children can master their own language within 4-6 months.

learns to read in the language,

While languages with complex spellings such as English, Portuguese, Tamil or Urdu take longer to learn, if the neural circuits used in reading are functioning, even weak and malnourished children can be taught to read with decoding and fluency (although they may have difficulties with comprehension). is). Since many don't get extra practice at home, they may need more tutoring hours to learn fluently. When large numbers of students are unable to read at grade 2 standards or higher, the likely cause is limited or inappropriate instruction rather than poverty and malnutrition. 1.1 Reference

(A) Turning Point

Our system is one of the largest school systems in the world with nearly 25 crore school going children and 9.4 lakh teachers, India has made significant progress towards achieving universal access at primary level. Although studies have shown that ensuring that students are in school does not inherently increase their learning, the poor learning levels of children at various stages of schooling is a significant national concern today. Research has conclusively shown that once students fall behind in basic literacy and numeracy, their learning rate slows down for years and then they lose their

The reason achievement cannot be matched by age and grade is that by Grade 3, children are expected to 'learn to read' and acquire basic skills. After standard 3 children are expected to 'read to learn'.

If this does not happen, the learning gap continues to widen from that point, as language textbooks and mathematical concepts become more complex and abstract in later grades, to the detriment of children who are forced to study in a language they do not speak or understand. is more Children studying through a foreign language face a 'double learning disadvantage', as they have to understand and learn a new language and at the same time understand difficult concepts presented in textbooks through that foreign language. Thus, class 3 is a turning point and this is where children who cannot adapt, fall behind. (B) Yashpal Committee Report on Unstressed Learning (1993):

The report highlighted the meaningless and joyless nature of school-based education in India and strongly raised the issue of meaning in the classroom. Reading is essentially a process of understanding context and understanding information, (C) National Curriculum Framework – 2005:

The National Curriculum Framework - 2005 clearly states, "Most children have a sense of fear and failure related to mathematics. Hence, they drop out of serious mathematical education early on. Too many at the same time with little attention to the known facts about the development of mathematical thinking in children." Abstract concepts are introduced.Often, the tendency in education is to boost children's mathematical skills by teaching them mechanical rules at the expense of understanding and intelligent application of mathematical skills.
