As per the amendments to the Citizenship Act 2004, all citizens of all states except Assam, whose parents are Indian and not illegal immigrants, will be considered as citizens of India.
It is worth mentioning that the central government has made this in view of the protests taking place around the country on the citizenship law and the protests on social media.
According to the official, the cut off year for identification of an Indian citizen in Assam's case is 1971.  On the possibility of applying NRC across the country, he said that it would be hasty to provide any information about this as the matter is under consideration.  Meanwhile, the officer appealed that the citizenship reform law should not be compared to the NRC in Assam because the cut off for Assam is different.

According to the amendments to the citizenship law, those born in India on or after January 26, 1950 but before July 1, 1987, and who were born in India on or after December 3, 2004, and their parents are citizens of India at birth.  He is a real Indian citizen.  People born in or outside India after December 10, 1992 or after December 3, 2004, whose parents were citizens of India at birth, are all Indian citizens.  If someone is born in India on or after December 3, 2004 and both parents are citizens of India or any one is an Indian citizen and is not an illegal immigrant at their birth then they are Indian citizens.
